Use external stylesheets and JavaScripts or find someone who does

MidBoh Tip Of The Week

Some time ago I wrote a “tip of the week” that appeared (and re-appears periodically) on my website. The title was “Use external stylesheets and JavaScripts”. It went on to explain why it was and still is a good idea. (I forgot to mention the performance advantage of caching .. but that’s for another day.)

The problem is that’s a tip for people who build web pages and understand the structure of the pages they create. It’s not for my customers (current or potential) even though they gain an advantage when it is implemented for them.

This reflects my then lack of understanding about writing for the customer. Hopefully my writing these days offers options other than “geeky” thoughts.

Despite my failure to target my writing then, at least I had started down the path.

Just in case anyone missed it in my earlier posts - content must be the cornerstone of your web presence. It must be targeted correctly, publicly available, helpful and the volume must increase over time.

To finish, here is a thinly disguised “call to action” to promote my services based on the misdirected tip of the week… if you don’t know if your website has externalised stylesheets or javascript and would like to find out what sort of improvement might be possible for you, then give me a call.
